Privacy Policy — ReflexLab
Last updated: 20 August 2026
The short version
ReflexLab does not collect your data. There is no account, no server and no analytics. Everything the app records stays in its own private storage on your phone until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Who we are
ReflexLab ("the app") is provided by FS Sam, developer of Sum Code.
If you have a question about this policy, contact williamjack1537@gmail.com.
What the app stores on your device
The app is a measuring instrument, so it records enough to make each measurement interpretable later:
- Your sessions and every raw trial — each reaction time, the raw timestamp of your touch, the timestamp of the frame the stimulus appeared on, the waiting period before it, the outcome, and the presentation offset for your screen.
- The conditions each session ran under — display refresh rate, thermal state, battery level and whether it was charging, whether battery saver was on, screen brightness, orientation and the current audio route. These are recorded so a slow session can be explained rather than silently averaged in.
- Your profile — experience points, level, streak, achievements, and an anonymous identifier generated on your device.
- Your settings — theme, language, stimulus colours, handedness, reminder time and, if you choose to enter it, your age.
- Calibration results — what your particular device adds to every measurement.
Your age is optional. It is used only to pick which normative comparison band your results are shown against. It is not transmitted anywhere.
All of this is written to the app's private storage, which other apps on your phone cannot read.
What the app sends
Nothing.
There is no account and no sign-in. There is no server to sync with. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK, no advertising identifier and no cross-app tracking. The app works fully offline and behaves identically in airplane mode.
The one way data can leave your phone is when you choose Settings → Export my data. That builds a CSV or JSON file of your own trials and hands it to your phone's share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice — the app has no part in it and no network code in that path.
Permissions, and why each one exists
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Only to show the optional daily reminder, at the time you choose. Requested only when you turn reminders on. |
| Vibration | Haptic feedback after a trial. Can be switched off. |
| Run at startup | So a reminder you scheduled survives a restart. |
| Network access | Held by bundled libraries but unused: no shipped feature makes a network request. |
The app does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, files, phone state or installed apps.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Since it collects nothing from anybody, there is nothing to delete on request — but if you believe a child has used the app and you want its local data removed, Settings → Delete all my data does exactly that on the device itself.
Your rights
Because no personal data ever reaches us, there is nothing for us to hold, disclose, correct or erase on your behalf. In practical terms:
- Access and portability — Settings → Export my data gives you every raw trial as CSV or JSON, immediately and in full.
- Erasure — Settings → Delete all my data permanently removes everything from the device. Uninstalling the app also removes it all.
- Objection, restriction, withdrawal of consent — there is no processing by us to object to, restrict, or withdraw consent from.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and UK GDPR give you these rights against a data controller. We do not act as a controller for any personal data here, because none is transmitted to or processed by us.
Health and medical
ReflexLab is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, screen for, treat, monitor or predict any medical or psychological condition, and no result it shows should be read as a health assessment. If you are worried about your reaction time, attention or memory, speak to a qualified clinician.
Photosensitivity
Some tests change the whole screen from dark to bright. If you have photosensitive epilepsy or are sensitive to flashing light, please take that into account before using the app. The app shows a notice about this when you first open it.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app adds a feature that transmits data — an account, cloud sync or a leaderboard — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described here with a new date at the top.
